Sunday 20th March at The Big Field

U7s Home Training

Dorking U7s where away taking part in the highly competitive U7s Surrey Festival held at Effingham & Leatherhead.

Weather was beautiful and players had amazing fun and loads of good high quality Rugby.

Well done done to everyone involved

U10s Home Training

This Sunday saw a very special guest Coach, our DoR Armand Roux, step-up to come deliver a Master Class to our U10 Boys Squad.

The players were hanging on his every word and instruction and this collaborative approach to integrating the club up and down from minis to seniors, and everything in between, is wonderful to see and so valuable for our players and coaches alike. Big thanks to Armand and to the Dorking U10s players for playing so well.

U11 Boys - O’Halloran & O’Brien Annual 6-Nations Championship

This Sunday saw return of the U11 age group Annual Six (Five, due to numbers) Nations Championship. With around 60 players within the group training can be extremely competitive, so to mix things up a little bit and bring more fun to a Sunday we like to add a bit of Competition. Enter the Six Nations….. the weather was fantastic, the big field was beautiful and the competition was fierce, our international teams all played with a worryingly high level of intensity (which certainly bodes well for the future) and there were some super slick handling skills all over the park.

Team captains – (Wales - Jackson Mouilah, Scotland – Freddie Armitage, England – Bertie Winters, France – Ali Pritchett, Ireland – Hugo Fish) were chosen to represent their country because of their attitude in training and for the leadership skills they show week in week out; one of their responsibilities on the day was to choose their TREDS (Teamwork, Respect , Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship) player of the Championship. These values are really important within our age group; we often talk about being the team at away festivals that is known for being extremely competitive and aggressive but also getting the balance right with being nice people that respect the opposition and play with the right values that Dorking RFC quite rightly stand firmly by. The following players were awarded the TREDS prize of a Dorking beanie hat, presented by their team captains – Spencer Braithwaite of Ireland, Sam Richardson of France, Rhys Bishop of Scotland, Oliver Mee of England and Finn Monckton of Wales.

It really was a great morning of rugby, played with the right level of intensity and competition that both the spectators and players all had a great time with lots of smiles….. especially when they all received a big bag of sweets each!!! Oh, did I forget to mention that England won the Grand Slam?? Who knows – maybe some of these players could be in a Grand Slam winning team in a few years’ time…….. that would be nice, wouldn’t it!!

Thanks to our wonderful coaching team, parents and age group sponsors O’Halloran and O’Brien and most importantly – every single U11 player that took part.

U12s BLUE SQUAD vs London Irish

Dorking U12s BLUE Squad ran out at Home on Pitch 5 against a very well organised London Irish.

The Dorking boys, captioned by Willoughby Geere, playing uphill in the first half took the lead going into half time and were looking very strong, playing with great skill in the backs while the forwards were working hard to recycle ball for the speedier players.

A few brilliantly placed kicks by Zac Butterfield and Raffy Bard presented some wonderful opportunities for the quicker fleet-footed Dorking backs resulting in a couple of great scores.

However, Irish were not going to give up easily and with their heads held high, they came back fighting levelling the score line, resulting in a 5-5 draw at the full time whistle.

A fantastic contest and beautiful rugby to watch - well done Dorking Boys.

U13s RED SQUAD vs Hammersmith & Fulham

Dorking U13s REDS we’re up against a very strong Hammersmith & Fulham squad playing in the Final Cup Game of the season, with winners going through to the play-off’s. With Dorking playing in White, it was a tough contest from the very start, especially upfront in the scrum, and although the Dorking boys nabbed a few head earned consecutive scores from the backs, the Hammers came back with pure power and skill bringing the score line back to level with just minutes to play. The Dorking boys lead by Alexander Geere, dug their heels in when it counted and made the final score for a very well deserved win - 5-4 to Dorking.

U13s BLUE SQUAD vs CHOBHAM

On Sunday 20th March, Dorking U13 Blues squad, coming in off a couple of losses, were determined to reverse the trend against a committed Chobham B team.

An early try from Ben Carloss, blasting over the line, settled the nerves and set the level for hard running, tackling and rucking.

A couple of quick passing moves set up 2 more tries before half time with the only set back being our usual accidentally gifted intercept try for the opposition

The second half was typified by a strong defence and some clinical finishing by Dorking, running out 30-5 winners. Of particular note was the ten minute spell where Chobham had a succession of scrums in our 22 but weren't allowed over the line.

Dorking Blue end the group stage of the Waterfall Cup with a 3W v 2L record.

U15's vs Weybridge Vandals

Dorking under 15's were in fantastic form on Sunday winning their cup game by 53-32.

The order of the day was running rugby with side of offloads and cracking defence as desert.

Well done 15's
