Dorking RFC Appoints Womens Coaching Team

11th July 2022

Dorking is currently working with Old Cats as we combine our womens sections to enter into the Inner Warrior league. This went really well for Dorking last season and now we are stepping even further towards that goal of having an independent womens team.

Paul Braitwaite has agreed to come on baord as our Womens head coach and having coached London Welsh women and at London Irish, Bath and Quins Academy comes with his own skill sets of how he can move the club forward. Paul was one of the Youth Development Program coaches in 21/22 season, and has accepted the challenge of being Head Coach for 1 year at Dorking RFC.

Paul is joined by Jessica Freeman who is heavily involved in the Quins Academy setup as well as coaching our under 14's where her son plays for Dorking. Jess is still looking to keep her boots on, so a great opportunity to coach and play.

Director of Rugby, Armand Roux, had the following to say about the appointments:

"I'm very pleased that both Paul and Jess agreed to come on board and to help spearhead the womens section beyond where it has ever been.

My goal is simple, I would like to make sure our Womens section get all the support they need. Physio support on training nights, S&C Coach, Gym Access, Gym Programs, Medical Team support with SCAT tests and guest coach appearances. As a club I dont even mind supporting guests from Old Cats and beyond as we are all trying to grow the game, and enjoy doing so.

We have a very good foundation laid by Pip and Ben Puttick who are still activley involved in supporting the development of our Girls (Youth) and Women (Senior) sections and hopefully the experience and enthusiasm of Paul and Jess will contribute towards all the positive actions already taken by Pip and Ben"

Dorking Women train every wednesday night at Dorking RFC from 7-8:30pm with the Gym being open pre session.

All women welcome regardless of ability or age.
