It is with great pleasure we announce the launch of the DRFC Golf Society.

“THE COCKERELS”

Captain - Malcolm Waldron

Vice-Captain - Mark Justice

You will all know these two long serving members of the Club.

 

Malcolm joined the Club in 2015 and became U7’s AGM in 2016.

He is still with the same group who are now U14’s.

For 5 years alongside Leo Kane he helped organise the mini festivals (2500 kids) and Minis tours which included upwards of 300 players and parents.

For his efforts he was awarded Mini Chair Club Person of the Year in 2019.

His son Max is in the U14’s and his daughter Millie is in the U13’S

Malcolm has a handicap of 14 , very handy, but apparently has to where an eye patch and a bandana on occasion when he is playing !

 

Mark joined the Club in 2016 and was appointed AGM for U7’s later that year.

He remained in this position for four years.

Mark has historically served on both the Social Committee and Comms Committee for two years.

His son Ralph plays in the U10’S and his daughter Holly played until she reached the U9’s when she had to give up due to other commitments.

Mark has a handicap of +2.9 so obviously has too much time on his hands !

Fun Fact:- After Oktoberfest last year Mark fell asleep in one of the changing rooms (too many beers) and woke up at 2am, locked in.

Guess who found his clothes the next day , yes, you’ve guessed , Malcolm.

 

There will be a £20.00 joining fee.This money will be used to buy prizes and trophies.

Members will be required to buy a branded Golf Society shirt. The cost of the shirt will be subsidised.

All members welcome to join.

Please note Depending upon interest from our younger members we MAY CONSIDER a junior section.

Once we know possible numbers for a junior section, we will revert, but we are aware they have school during the week , school sports on Saturdays and play at the Club Sundays so it would only be school holidays. It needs to be carefully thought through.

Our inaugural competition will be at Kingswood Golf Club and dates will be announced shortly.

The cost of this day is TBC and will include coffee and a bacon roll upon arrival , 18 holes golf and Lunch with the presentations.

Once you have joined look out for the email advising you of our first Society date as it will be first come first served and to book/confirm your place you must transfer a non-refundable deposit of £20 which will be deducted from the cost of the day above.
