By Jim Evans
Chair of Trustees at Dorking RFC
14th March 2024

After over 10 years as DRFC Treasurer, Paul Instone is retiring.

Paul has been an active member of DRFC for over 30 years, as a player, spectator and volunteer. When he took up the role as Treasurer, using his professional financial management skills, Paul quietly instigated a process of modernising the management of the club’s financial affairs.

He leaves us in a position where the finances are professionally managed, and this has been instrumental in allowing the main club committee, under Shaun’s leadership, to successfully plan ahead and manage the club finances.  During his period of office, Paul also helped oversee the clubhouse development, the set up and operation of the John Douglas Youth Development Fund, and the transformation of the shop. He was also a key part of the team that has delivered the membership cards and the implementation of other enabling technology. In addition, he has also been involved in contract negotiations with the brewery and much, much more.

All this has been done on a voluntary basis and makes him such an inspirational club member.

Thank you Paul.

New Appointment

I am delighted to announce Tarek Sherazee has accepted the invitation from the Trustees to become the next Treasurer of Dorking RFC.

Tarek is heavily involved in rugby, both as an active referee and parent.  Professionally, after an early career as an Officer in the Royal Marines, Tarek moved to become a qualified accountant at PWC.  He has subsequently had an interesting career in the retail services sector (Costa Coffee, Co-Operative Group and Ted Baker), and he is currently a Senior Partner at Korn Ferry.  These skills mean he is ideally placed to help DRFC on the next stage of its evolution.

Tarek, on behalf of all members, welcome to Dorking RFC. We look forward to you helping us to continue to be a leading community rugby club, setting the standards that others seek to follow.
