This weekend the U14 girls travelled to Camberley to play Guildford/Camberley (Guilberley) cluster. The match was a game of 4 quarters. The first quarter saw Dorking girls dominate with most of the play in the oppositions half. The rucking and pod work that the girls have been working on in training was effective however no tries were scored due to a strong Guilberley defence and an impressive defensive kicker.

The second quarter was driven by Guilberley. Our rucking faltered and Guilberley took advantage by turning the ball over and scoring 2 tries in close succession which were both converted leaving a half time score of 14-0.

Dorking girls started strongly in the third quarter with some great team work that resulted in a try from Scarlett De lacovo. Unfortunately Guilberley responded quickly with another try conversion leaving the score 21-5 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

In the final quarter the Dorking girls came out fighting, working as a team in structure which built a platform for the girls to show flair and confidence on the ball! Scarlett McSweeney scored 2 break away tries bringing the score to 21-15 and then in the final minutes of the game some great rucking lead to Darcey Dixon driving the ball over the line making the final score 21-20.

Overall it was an epic game with great team work and individual accountability on display! Despite losing, the girls came away smiling knowing that every single one of them played their heart out and did the coaches and parents proud!
