Fraser Macdonald hangs up his boots

25/10/2022

After 26 years of playing Rugby for Dorking, Fraser Macdonald had to make the tough decision to hang up his boots on the advice of head injury experts.

Part of what made Fraser so imposing was the directness of his approach  and unfortunately, he suffered his fair share of bumps and bruises doing what he was so good at

Fraser Started playing Rugby for Dorking Aged 5 and the picture above is his first day at DRFC alongside more recent days playing for DRFC.

Armand had the following to say:

“Losing Fraser as a player and a leader is a tremendous blow for the senior group of players, but I fully support the decision to hang up his boots as he has a lovely young family and head injuries are not to be disregarded.

Having played with Fraser and coached him in more recent times, I can categorically say that he is a true gentleman and someone we will all miss around the playing squad.

I’m sure we will find him something to do to get his rugby fix”

When we asked Fraser if he had any comments on the big decisions he simply said:

“I Loved every minute and going to miss playing for Dorking immensely.

Proud to have been part of two teams to have been promoted to level 4 and will be supporting the boys as much as I can going forward - #1 Supporter”

Great Shift Fraser, Great shift.
