This weekend will see Dorking Women take to the field as a Dorking standalone Women's team for the first time in more than 2 decades.

It did not happen overnight with some tireless work from Pip Merrett and Ben Puttick over years and more recently by Jessica Freeman and Ben Goodlad.

The Women's membership growth has been phenomenal over the last 12 months with more and more women's payers joining Dorking where a mix ambition, hard work and having fun take the order of the day.

Armand Roux our Director of Rugby had the following to say:

"As a club we are 100% supportive of growing our women's rugby provision as much as possible by providing them with the exact same quality kit, medical, gym and training kit that any other senior member gets.

They are a great group of players who work hard for each other and loves a good old fashioned social. The value of Enjoyment is truly present in this group of players.

We will continue to support them and we have now even agreed to have a stand alone womens fixture on Saturday 6th January 2024 against Staines with a Pre-match lunch with all the regular 1st team match day timings.

Very exciting times and good luck to Lauren and her team."

We also asked Lauren Parsons our Women's captain how she felt about the up and coming league starting for our Dorking Women:

"Dorking Women are very much looking forward to their first game of the season in the NC3 league on Sunday 17th September.

This is our first season out of the development league and identifying solely as Dorking which is really exciting. The team is the strongest it has ever been with a variety of ages, experience, shapes and sizes and record numbers of players turning up for both training sessions per week.

The recent wins from our two preseason friendly matches have given us plenty of confidence, focus and motivation to continue showcasing our hardwork over the summer and growing numbers. I am so impressed and proud of the players and their commitment to each other and the team, which is showing on and off the pitch.

It is everyone's individual quirks that make this team so brilliant and a force to be reckoned with. The support from the club, coaches and management has been great and contributes greatly to our ongoing success.

We are ready to make an impact and create some history! WACOMB, Lauren aka Captain Chaos."

Dorking Women will start their Campaign aginst Camberley away at 2pm on Sunday 17th September 2023.

Dorking Rugby Club would like to wish every single Dorking Women team member all the best for the up and coming campaign and know that we are all behind you to support you in your first season back.
