Dorking Colts welcomed Warlingham (League 1) and Sutton & Epsom (League 4) to a Double Header at The Big Field to kick off their Surrey League campaign on Sunday. It was a beautiful day with perfect conditions for running rugby, and the teams delivered two games of contrasting fortunes. Dorking Colts vs. Warlingham (League 1) Final Score: 34-0 The Dorking Colts set a formidable standard in their league opener with a commanding bonus-point victory over Warlingham. Displaying the pace and power they are known for, Dorking systematically dismantled the opposition's defence.

The scoreboard was kept busy with tries from Jaleel Rudder, Eddie Clifford-Jones, and player of the match (POTM) Spike Davis. The back three stepped up and demonstrated their foot speed with two tries from Ellis Long, underlining the hard work the back three have been putting in since the Rams game.

The match was unfortunately marred by two significant injuries. A worrying incident saw Dorking’s Zac Moore stretchered from the field. After being transferred to hospital, it was a relief to learn there was no fracture, though he will be recovering from a deeply bruised thigh for a few weeks.

Following the stoppage, Jack Haines seamlessly transitioned to fly-half, and Dorking went about re-establishing control. With 10 minutes remaining, the game was brought to a premature end due to a neck injury to a Warlingham player. For player safety, both teams agreed to call the match at that stage. In a moment that truly reflects the spirit of rugby, both injured players were in good spirits and exchanged pleasantries in hospital, having found themselves in opposite beds in A&E.

Thankfully, the Warlingham player also avoided serious injury. This was a convincing bonus point win for the Colts, who will look to carry this momentum into their next fixture. Next Match: Rosslyn Park (Away)
