Dorking Rugby Club has been a part of so many lives for so many years and the time came for the club to finally have the opportunity to celebrate their 100th Year with a sequence of events.

Thursday 11th November 2021

The question was asked, “How can we get the older generation involved in something a little more competitive to celebrate our centenary?”

“Lets play golf” someone said, and before we knew it, Dorking’s Board got in touch with Sutton and Epsom’s Board to arrange a match.

32 Golfers took to Kingswood GC on Thursday 11thNovember to compete in a Matchplay.

The score was 4 all and due to a technicality, Dorking managed to take the win on the day. Massive thank you to Sutton and Epsom RFC’s old guard for their good sportsmanship on the day
Friday 12th November 2021

With not much rugby played for Dorking’s Derelicts prior and such a big weekend ahead, picking the Friday night before the big day for a game was always going to be well attended.

This proved to be the case as Dorking RFC invited Old Reigaitians RFC over for the match and both teams had close to 30 players who were willing to contribute towards the match.

The game was played in great spirit for not only was it to celebrate 100 years of Dorking Rugby, but also to remember a friend who played for both DRFC and ORRFC, Chris Venn.

Dorking won 20-5, the bar was busy and talk turned towards the pinnacle of the weekend’s events.
Saturday 13th November 2021

On Saturday we welcomed three Sutton and Epsom RFC senior teams alongside many Youth players (boys and girls) to The Big Field.

It was a fantastic day, with the unveiling of the Alan Clatworthy Pavilion in the presence of many Dorking members and signatories from years past.

The day was capped off with a massive guard of honour by our very own mini’s and all three senior teams taking the spoils with victories over Sutton and Epsom.
Sunday 14th November 2021

As always, our 600 strong youth players and 100 coach/age group manager volunteers, took to the pitches across the county to represent Dorking. Some of them backing up in doing two days on the bounce after being busy on Saturday too.

The standout victory of Sunday went to the Colts who beat Quins Amateurs as they progress to the last round of their Waterfall Cup competition.

The celebrations will continue with our centenary ball on 11th December and further into 2022 as we continue to embrace 100 years of Dorking Rugby with various events and socials.
