Club redevelopment update

Well, amidst these difficult times, some good news. The building work on our New Rehabilitation and Medical Centre has started.

We have already achieved planning permission, and now have formal approvals from the National Trust, Brockham Big Field, Mole Valley District Council, and the Rugby Football Foundation.  All legal agreements have been crafted and signed. Downs (Centenary Season Club Sponsors) have done a fantastic job in herding all together and gaining consensus.

Stanton Construction are the chosen contractor from a beauty parade. Well perhaps not a beauty parade, but a good cross-section of local builders. We are working on phase one until competitive league rugby starts, whenever that may be.

Nipper, their hugely experienced digger driver, has views on most things in life and was none too pleased at the amount of concrete on the site but worse was to follow.  It transpires that, at the northern end of our pavilion, we have both differing soil densities at various depths and a variety of new and old tree roots.  It soon became clear that our building was going nowhere without piling.  Abbey Pynford were therefore employed to help us with this issue and have completed their site last week.

These are costly changes but have not stopped our momentum and we are going to try and get as much done as possible now.

Andy Webb will keep us all up to date with progress and as he is utilising the hard-raised funds slightly faster than our budget anticipated (due to piling), please do consider sending Paul Instone (Dorking RFC Treasurer) some additional funds to assist if you can. For those that have already done so - Thank you very much.

Special thanks are also already due to Jes and Dave at Stanton Construction, Catherine and Christian at Useful Studio Architects, Julian at VKHP structural engineers, and Mark at Adair Chartered Surveyors.  You will have a chance to meet them all in due course. More mentions and details of those involved as we progress - such as Ryan Geere on waste materials – See… talents everywhere!

Headline Sponsor Boosts Fund Raising for Rebuilding Project

As part of our fundraising efforts, I thought you would all like to know that Crimson, one of our Gold Partners in their 8th season with us, has generously offered to donate £50,000 to our exciting Rehabilitation and Medical centre project. We are extremely grateful for their support and vote of confidence.

Crimson are very keen to see this new facility used across the entire club and want to see players young and old, of all genders and backgrounds, with the greater diversity the better, gaining benefit.

The Crimson Group operate several different businesses within their growing portfolio including:

Student Accommodation in a range of UK University towns and cities; A provider of global personal security products (passports/ID cards etc) of the highest standard including holography; An Extreme E Racing team and Esport provider entering the 2021 World Championship; A Global Cloud technology and software products developer with an office in London and Prague; and a developer of high end residential property in Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Mayfair, ….. and Dorking. The four should always be grouped together!

All are built on traditional rugby values where the emphasis is to provide the customer with value and confidence. Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Integrity and Trust are of critical importance. So do please speak to Andy Webb if you are interested in discussing any opportunities.

Once again huge thanks to Andy and the Crimson team. If you or your company can help in even a small way toward our fundraising targets please do get in touch.
