Call for volunteers

Like so many community sports clubs and charities, our club relies heavily on the kindness of our volunteers.  As the RFU say - Without the time, energy and commitment of volunteers, rugby simply would not happen.  We currently have a few areas with particular roles for which we are recruiting.

Shop Management

If you have retail experience and some time, we’d love to speak to you.  This role looks after stock management and ordering, shop management (online and off), pre-order fulfilment, staff rotas etc. The club shop is open every Sunday from 9:30 -12:30 and every 1st XV home game an hour prior to kick off and until half-time as well as during annual youth and minis festivals.  As an exciting part of the current club development works the shop will be moving into its own permanent home off the main club room downstairs.  Please contact shop@dorkingrfc.com if you think you can help.

Communications Support

If you have creative experience, our comms could really benefit from your experience.  Our activities require a lot of promotional work – particularly now when so much is happening remotely.  If you have access to Creative Cloud (or similar) and can design things like social media posts and flyers (and even create videos… which would be an amazing plus!) or can help us write copy or support with website content and are willing to lend a hand, please contact cat@dorkingrfc.com .

Finally, there are always things that crop up where we’d really appreciate a little extra help, such as work parties, pre-match setup, clubhouse handy-work, festivals etc.  If you’d be willing to put your name into the mix to help out sometimes, please let us know by filling in our quick form.

It’s not just the club that benefits.  It’s also a contributing factor for good mental health as it connects you with others against isolation, builds confidence, brings enjoyment and a sense of purpose for better self-esteem and helps counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety (See NCVO website for more details).

We really value our volunteers.  We have several members of our volunteering contingency that have won awards from the England Rugby and Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer Recognition Programme as well as the Surrey Rugby VRP for their significant contributions to the club.

It’s rewarding work – we hope you’ll join in.
