Dorking RFC is delighted to announce that Director of Rugby Armand Roux has signed a new multi-year contract with the club.

Armand has played a central role in the development of Dorking Rugby over many years, both as a player and now as Director of Rugby. A former 1st XV captain, Armand was appointed Dorking’s first Director of Rugby in 2016 following a major restructure of the club.

His connection with the club goes back even further. Armand was part of Dorking groups that reached the National finals in both 2007 and 2012, before going on to lead the club’s senior rugby programme.

Since taking on the role of Director of Rugby, Armand has helped oversee a significant period of growth and development at Dorking, including the club’s progression through the national leagues and the continued strengthening of its player pathway. Dorking reached National 2 East in 2022, while the club has continued to place a strong emphasis on developing its own players and creating opportunities for young players to progress into senior rugby.

That focus on development has remained central to Armand’s work. In 2021, he helped launch Dorking’s Colts Development Programme, designed to support the transition from youth rugby into the senior game and provide players with greater access to coaching, strength and conditioning, medical support and development opportunities.

The impact of that pathway is increasingly visible throughout the senior squad. Ahead of the 2023/24 season, Armand highlighted that 65% of the senior squad were former Dorking youth players, reflecting the club’s commitment to developing players within its own system.

Dorking RFC Chairman Ben Burford said:

“Armand is an important part of what we’re building at Dorking. We’re thrilled that he has committed his future to the club and look forward to seeing him continue to flourish.”

Armand said:

“It’s a real privilege to commit to Dorking where we have so many fantastic volunteers, staff, players and supporters. We have already been on a significant journey and are excited to continue developing and supporting future generations while creating a sustainable club environment.”

The new contract provides continuity as Dorking enters the next stage of its development, with the club continuing to build its senior rugby programme while investing in its youth pathway and creating a sustainable environment for future generations.

Dorking RFC is delighted to have Armand continuing to lead the rugby programme and looks forward to the next chapter of the club’s journey together.
